Treatment to remove skin cancer near or on the eyelid requires specialized techniques to maintain natural function and appearance of the eyelids.

Dr. Codner uses very detailed, specialized techniques to remove and/or repair skin cancer excisions, which may include skin grafts and flaps. The reconstruction is often performed the same day following Mohs’ skin cancer removal.

Generally outpatient, skin cancer treatment is most commonly performed under local anesthesia.

Correction of your eyelids may be covered by your insurance; please discuss your potential benefits and precertification for surgery with our staff.

You may engage in light activity the day after your surgery. Depending on any accompanying procedures, a return to more normal activity may take 1-2 weeks.

Proper skincare and sun protection including sunglasses are essential during healing.

Results can be long-term, however, nothing can fully prevent additional skin cancers. Staged procedures may be required to reduce scarring.

“After the cancer was cut away it seemed my face was ruined. Your skill and kind caring manner made such a difference in my life — more than I am able to express. The physical scars will fade. You left no emotional scars to heal. Your staff made me feel comfortable and they gave me much support. I truly appreciate them. I am so happy with the results of your work! You made a nice new nose for me.” JEAN
